WHAT IT TREATS

Is Reletex right for you?

Reletex is FDA-cleared for several types of nausea. If you're experiencing nausea from any of the conditions below, ask your provider whether Reletex is an option for you.

HOW TO USE

Using Reletex

Step 1

Find the Correct Area

Use either wrist. Looking at your palm, bend your wrist slightly toward you. The correct area is between the two tendons on the underside of your wrist, about two finger-widths above the wrist crease farthest from your elbow. Apply to clean, healthy skin.

Step 2

Apply Gel to wrist area intended for neuromodulation

Spread gel to a thin, even sheen about the size of a quarter or half-dollar. Don't use too much or too little - too much gel may reduce stimulation intensity.

The gel helps enhance the conductivity between the electrodes and the skin, allowing the impulses to penetrate and reach the nerves intended to receive stimulation. You should use a drop, about the size of a pea. The drop should be spread onto the skin, until a sheen remains, covering an area the size of a quarter. Gel should be reapplied as needed (about every 2-3 hours) or when the device is reapplied after washing the wrist area.

Step 3

Attach to Wrist

Place the device over the gelled area and attach to your wrist. Turn it on by pressing the power button. The blinking green light shows your current power level. Increase to the highest comfortable setting.

The device may need to be moved around the median nerve to ensure the contact pads locate the median nerve and you can feel the tingling.

Step 4

Adjust the Strap

Adjust the strap to a comfortable position and cut off any excess to fit your wrist.

We suggest starting at level 1 and increase intensity as needed to feel the tingling.

Re-Applying Gel

Re-apply as needed (roughly every 2-4 hours) to maintain the best quality of sensation.  Please note: Excess gel can weaken the tingling sensation - if this happens, clean the device and wrist, then reapply. You can add extra gel if the tingle feels too strong at level 1.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Common Questions

Q

How do I activate Reletex®?

To activate Reletex®, press the on/off button in the center of the Reletex® face. A green light will begin blinking near the number 1. Press the button a second time to increase stimulation to the next level. The device has a total of five stimulation levels (1, 2, 3, 4, and 5), with higher numbers corresponding to higher stimulation levels. Note: The flashing light is not synchronized with the tingling sensation you will feel (the tingling sensation will cycle every four seconds). To turn off the device, press and hold on/off button in the center of the device face for at least 3 seconds.

Q

How do I know it's applied correctly?

After identifying the correct area (two finger widths below the first crease on your wrist and between the two tendons), be sure to apply the conductivity gel on the wrist per instructions. Place Reletex® over the gelled area and turn on. The device will start on setting 1. You should feel a gentle pulsing or tingling sensation in the palm and/or middle fingers of your hand. This sensation tells you that the device is placed correctly. Tighten the strap but avoid over tightening to prevent the “tourniquet” effect.

Q

What should I feel when it's working?

You should always feel some ‘tingling’ in the palm and/or middle fingers of your hand. This ‘tingling’ sensation tells you that the device is placed correctly. Increase the stimulation to the highest level that is comfortable. You must continue to feel the tingling for Reletex® to work. Worn over time, you will become accustomed to the sensation, and it will become less noticeable. The tingling sensation does vary with arm movements.

Q

What gel should I use, and how much?

The Reliefband conductivity gel should always be used.

Q

When and how long should I wear it?

Reletex® should be worn throughout treatment, and for as long as symptoms persist. For patients anticipating nausea, the device can be activated before symptoms arise. Otherwise, turn it on when you start to feel symptoms of nausea, and turn it off when you feel better. Reletex® may be worn as long as necessary. Note: You may leave it on the wrist after you turn it off if you are concerned that symptoms may return.

Q

Is it waterproof?

Reletex® is NOT waterproof; however, it is rated as ‘Spray and Splash Resistant.’ This means that it should continue to perform in most cases of splash contact with water. It should not be submerged or subjected to long periods of continual exposure to water.

Q

Are there other uses for it, or other places I can wear it?

Reletex® is only intended / indicated for use as specified in the manufacturer’s Instructions for Use or as directed by your physician.

Q

Are there any side effects?

Isolated cases of skin irritation may occur where the electrodes touch the skin following long term application. Continued use of the device on irritated skin may cause injury. If local skin irritation (redness, swelling, blotches, blisters or itching on the wrist under the device) occurs, discontinue use. If irritation does not disappear within 24 hours, consult your doctor or pharmacist. Patients sensitive to metals may experience irritation under the electrodes. The electrodes are gold plated to minimize this possible irritation.

Finding the Right Spot

Correct positioning of Reletex® is important to achieve results. The position on the wrist should be adjusted until stimulation is felt. A tingling sensation in the palm and/or middle fingers indicates correct placement.
